Prof. Yang is from Nanjing, China. He studied Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University for one year. Then he transferred to The University of Hong Kong in 2002 and obtained B.Sc. degree in Mathematics\/Physics in 2005. He joined the condensed matter theory group at The University of Texas at Austin and received the Ph.D. in Physics degree in 2011. He worked as an imaging geophysicist in CGG (US) Services at Houston from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, he became a founding member of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), advancing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. Between 2023 and 2025, he served as a Professor at the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering, University of Macau. In 2025, he joined the Department of Applied Physics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Yang\u2019s research is in theoretical condensed matter physics, focusing on topological aspects. His work encompasses topological materials, 2D materials, transport theory, spintronics, valleytronics, and nonlinear responses. He is a pioneer in advancing the extended semiclassical theory and discovering novel topological phases and nonlinear effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
